Welcome to my Blog!

I am a Seattle, WA based photographer celebrating life through moments captured and supported by the love of my wife Sasha and daughter Ella Rose.  Besides shooting beautiful weddings, adorable families, precious little ones, cool high school grads or hip rock bands, favorite things include:  Travel, music, great coffee, uninhibited laughter, vigorous bicycle rides, a top-notch glass of wine, and 18 holes with a good cigar.

My photographic journey began in the fall of 2004 with the arrival of my daughter - The early images of Ella were crude at best and simply unacceptable.  As never one to settle for anything less than excellence with an artistic drive and technical aptitude derived from over 15 years experience lodged in recording studios as engineer and producer for such artists as Brandi Carlile, Death Cab for Cutie, Sleater-Kinney and a zillion more, a new passion was born to become the best photographer I could possibly be.  This is a passion and journey that continues to this day.

I am available worldwide to capture your wedding, portrait, event or unique story - Please feel free to send me an email through the Connect link to tell me more about what you're looking for and how I can help!

Mariel and Mike Wedding

This post is a blast from the past… September 2nd, 2007 to be exact.  At the time of this wedding, I didn’t have enough computing power to work on the larger images from my recently purchased Nikon D200.  Oh how times have changed… A dual 23″ MacPro with 16GB of RAM along with a Nikon D300 and D700 keep things on the up and up these days.  I know that it’s me and not my camera that takes good pictures, but you will have to pry the low noise yumminess of the CMOS sensors on my current cameras out of my cold, dead hands… I simply could not perform in low light for this wedding with the D200’s CCD sensor like I can now.

I sort of forgot about these images and had fun taking a trip down memory lane.  It was shot at the W Hotel in downtown Seattle for the one and only Laurence Kim.  I had only shot one wedding with him previously and was still just getting my act together.  So while this collection is not my best or most up-to-date work, I thought it would be good to show where I came from on my journey as a wedding photographer.
