Jingle Bell Run . 08

Team Photogenic had me out in the early-AM darkness in preparation for the 24th Annual Jingle Bell Run to Benefit the Arthritis Foundation.  It was a balmy 29 degrees and I was wearing a pair of long-johns, fleece pants, rain pants, a turtle neck, zipped hoodie, puffy down jacket and insulated snowboarding jacket with gloves, a neck warmer and hat.  I was like the Michelin tire man and still a bit cold.

And after holding my Nikon D700 with battery grip and 70mm-200mm f/2.8 VR to my face for about an hour and 30 minutes, my arms and wrists were useless.  My back took 3 days to recover.  I now own a Manfrotto monopod with with custom bracket for switching between landscape and portrait orientation.  I shall not bear the 6.5 pounds anymore.  Check out my rig and why it’s great no matter what you’re shooting here.
