Courtney + ChrisFishermens Terminal EngagementSeattle, WA

I recently spent some time with Courtney and Chris for a Fishermens Terminal engagement session that started there before moving to Magnolia’s sprawling Discovery Park.

We were blessed with sunny skies and moderate temperatures while we found interesting stuff around the net warehouses to work with as locations while also incorporating the fishing boats and docks found all around this iconic area below the Ballard Bridge in Seattle, WA.

Chris and Courtney chose to work with the incomparably talented Barb Whipple of Plume Wedding Concepts for their wedding at Swan’s Trail Farms and getting to know them ahead of photographing their wedding proved to be invaluable in regards to getting to know them much, much better while providing them a large collection of images that they elected to turn into a guest sign-in book.

Hugs, kisses, hard light, maritime backdrops and a piggyback ride. Good times.

Renata + ChrisQueen Anne EngagementSeattle, WA

Hello 2013!  How lucky am I that I get to work with Renata and Chris to fulfill their request for a Queen Anne engagement session near their home.

We were #soblessed with a beautiful, sunny day and leisurely followed the good light before it quickly left us altogether after some introductory (and nerve-calming) beverages at the Hilltop Alehouse on Queen Anne and tasty Cubanos from El Diablo.

These two are SMART.  And they save lives.  And they have a fantastic Australian shepherd named Ruddy with a winning personality.  FWIW, Ruddy is also the first organism with a heart beat to ride in the back of my beloved wagon.

The session began by working some low, warm light in Parson’s Garden before exploring nearby textures provided the many phenomenal homes in the area. As we were just a few days into the new year it was very cold so snuggling for the couple came naturally and be necessity!

Ruddy rules.  So do Chris and Renata.  I can’t wait for their Seattle Aquarium wedding with Emily from Manette Gracie making things purdy and keeping the timeline Swiss.

Yun + PatrickJardin du Soleil EngagementSequim, WA

It was refreshing and fun to take a break from my busiest wedding season yet and head Sequim, WA for a Jardin du Soleil engagement session on the Olympic Peninsula with Yun + Patrick for some frolicking among the lavender. Their Newcastle Golf Club wedding is just a scant few weeks away and I think we’re all getting just a little excited!

These guys were not afraid to get close and share their love (thank you Y + P) nor were they shy about rocking some pink balloons for a little stylized flair. They even embraced the wind on the ferry for some hair-gone-wild moments that had to be shared.

Getting to and from Sequim was really no big deal and I’d definitely like to go back to Jardin du Soleil again to rock it on a warm, summer evening as we had a bit of gray and cold to contend with. And man, a ferry gets me every time… Probably my favorite thing about living in Puget Sound.

Share some of yours by voting, liking/sharing to Facebook or pinning anything that catches your fancy (thank you). Cheers, KB.

Sarah + DanielPioneer Square EngagementSeattle, WA

Meet Sarah + Daniel. They hail from the midwest and are readying to celebrate their wedding in Cannon Beach, OR… One of my favorite places to visit with my family as a child growing up in Vancouver, WA and I cannot wait to join them.

For their Pioneer Square engagement session we eschewed most of the typical locations and explored locations new to them and me while seeing just how close those to could get! This session is definitely on the moodier side of anything I’ve previously shown and I love it. They did too as their 20 favorites wound up as a gorgeous 8×8 Fine Art book for their coffee table 🙂

Show a little love for Sarah + Daniel if you would. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll look forward to sharing their Cannon Beach wedding down the line.

Billy + IngridUniversity of Washington EngagementSeattle, WA

I recently had the pleasure of spending some time with Ingrid + Billy during their University of Washington engagement session ahead of their upcoming wedding. It was a gorgeous spring evening to visit the Suzzallo Library and other points of interest on the UW campus while making a quick stop in Fremont before ultimately ending up downtown at Pike Place Market near the Alibi Room, one of their favorite haunts.

Ingrid & Billy exude a quiet confidence and closeness that is refreshing to photograph.  Besides being over the moon to photograph their Volunteer Park/Melrose Market wedding in August, I’m also looking forward to photographing the wedding of Billy’s sister Alex this summer for a little thing called Lightning Bolts of Love.  The family that marries together stays together?!

Contest!

It’s my standard practice now to offer portrait subjects a free 11×14 mounted lab print of their choice from their session if they can drum up 30 original comments on their blog post. Ingrid and Billy are no different (in that regard). Please take a moment to vote for your favorites, ‘Like’ the images on Facebook, pin one or two to Pinterest and MOST DEFINITELY add a comment at the bottom of the post so these two can score a free print. Thanks for stopping by!
