When my wife Sasha and I were getting married we had so many questions… You probably do to. Here are some answers to some frequently asked questions:
Where is your pricing information?
Please reach us via the contact form. Commissions are quoted based on the information you provide… Please be forthcoming. We very much look forward to hearing from you.
How many weddings do you shoot each year?
A select few usually totaling less than 15.
What is your photography style? Photojournalism? Experiential?
The majority of the photography on your wedding day will be considered wedding photojournalism, or documentary photography – Capturing things as they unfold with no interference by the photographer while focusing on collecting images that tell a story.
When working with the bride and groom, the wedding party and family formals, the emphasis shifts to more of an casual portrait approach – Placing subject(s) in a beautiful environment with the direction to be natural, or act in a manner than inspires or connects to them with subtle direction from the photographer.
How many images do we receive from our wedding?
It depends on the length of the day, the number of locations involved and the number of your guests, but you can expect no less than 500 and no more than 800.
When will we get our photos?
We will have a viewing session booked between 3 and four weeks after your wedding where I present your images to you.
What file type do you photograph in? RAW or JPEG?
All images are shot in the RAW format, developed and optimized, and presented in JPEG format.
Do you bring assistants to your wedding?
It depends on whether or not the bride and groom are starting at different locations, the flow of the day, the number of guests or if a Foto Fun Booth™ is involved.
Film or digital?
Both actually. I’ve been incorporating medium format film shot on a Contax 645, Hasselblad 500c/m and Holga into my engagement sessions and wedding coverage. The film looks fantastic and I love it. Digital is the best tool for the majority of what I do and I love it too.
How much do you charge and what do we get?
I offer six packages featuring a range of high quality albums and wall products that have proven to be popular with my clients. Not every client is the same and there is the option to build your custom dream package starting from à la carte coverage beginning at a base of $1,000 with the ability to choose the hours of coverage and items that will best suit your needs. All packages include an heirloom quality album and get-to-know-you engagement session.
Do you have experience with families that have special needs?
Yes. Whether a non-amicable divorce between parents, your teenage kids from a previous marriage, health concerns such as wheelchairs and oxygen tanks, language barriers and more, we’ve previously handled these situations with grace and aplomb.
Do you bring back-up equipment?
Hecks yes! We bring two pro camera bodies and assortment of lenses and flashes to every wedding with an additional kit consisting of body + lens + light in the trunk of my car that I can cover an entire wedding with.
You are based in Seattle… Would you travel to be our wedding photographer?
My passport is up to date and travel is the reigning #1 passion after my family and photography.
How long have you been a photographer? Did you go to school?
I’ve been shooting for about 6 years. I picked up a camera when my daughter was born. I’m self taught in parenthood and photography.
How do we reserve you for our wedding?
It’s easy. Fill out my contact form, choose a package, digitally sign a contract and pay a non-refundable retainer to reserve me for your date.
Do you take credit cards?
Yes. Cash, check, Paypal and bank transfer are all in our wheelhouse.
When will I receive my wedding images?
I like to book a date three weeks after your wedding to meet and have your minds blown and hearts melted.
How many images do I get?
It depends on the length of your coverage, but 75 images per hour of coverage is a good estimate.
Do you offer albums?
Of course. Albums are our favorite and are enthusiastically included with each package.
What do you actually give me?
Besides a lot of love and care, you will receive a gorgeous heirloom quality album, enrollment in my Lifetime Portrait Program and DVD containing the entire collection of hi-res proofs with personal printing rights depending on your choice of package.
What do I do about all the people that want to see the pictures or get some?
It’s up to you and what is applicable, but there will be a shareable online slideshow, blog post, Facebook gallery and an online sales cart. Visit http://proofs.kipbeelmanphotography.com to get the feel for what your event will look like like online.
